He has prepared several students for 13+ examinations, entrance examinations and GCSE Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. He has also helped out as an assistant tutor during his college-run 'Maths Week' for first-year STEM undergraduates; this was an intensive crash-course designed to help students recap their knowledge after a long summer vacation.

His approach is largely based on repeated practice and teaching students how to think - for GCSEs, he typically covers the  core content in 4-5 lessons and then go through past papers with the student. Often he builds up to harder questions mid- way through his teaching, before returning to 'exam standard' questions - he finds that this approach gives students greater  confidence. In response to feedback from the student, he often changes his teaching approach; He is able to do 'deep dives' into areas of Chemistry and Biology if the student has a particular interest in certain topic areas. He brings an enthusiasm to the subjects he teaches, and regularly push his students out of their comfort zone.
